I have just done a few of those speed testers that are dotted around the net and they say i should be able to download at 1.7mbps.
However I have never seen more than 200kbps. Now i know there are alot of different factors involved however surely at some point i should of seen at least 1mb. Its not as if i download or stream or whatever from just one place.
I want my porn quicker!

Thats what im thinking I could throw a stone and hit the exchange, but i have never got more than 200kb's.
What provider are you with?
What does your connection status say under your modem admin panel?
With Sky through BT.
Modem admin panel? is that in control panel lol?
sky are notoriously pants though!
networking, is difficult to tell. there could be a number of reason,s
un-open ports. ( not correctly set up ports )
distance of the server ur downloading from.
and not forgetting, when u download , u have to upload.
most company's say upto 8mb(example) as a con,
u could be inside the telecoms center , and still get 2mb,
its all about the correct set up
and dont forget about process's on ur system, that leech ur internet in the background.
tons of reasons, lol.

Are you sure that your results arent saying you have 1.7mbps line and not download speed.... 200kb/s is just under 2meg downloasd speed....
Just to add my 8mb line, of which i think i connect at 7.4ish, gives a max download of about 800 or just under kb/s
When i had 512, max was about 56 and 1mb max was about 110kb/s
To me it sounds that your line is correct.....
Unless your results said you could download at 1700kb/s, which would mean you prob had sky's (cant remember off the top of my head) 24/20 mb service......
