Hi everyone,

I've joined this forum on behalf of a friend who needs some help.

He just bought a punto turbo (MK 1) and within a few days the cars pouring out blue smoke and theres oil coming from the dump valve for some weird reason aswell.

Has this ever happened to anyone before ? Any help much appreciated.

blue smoke is a sign of oil - and oil coming out of the dump valve means turbo is fooked - could be oil seals, or something more sinister.

does the shaft have any play? take the intake pipe off the turbo (on the back of the engine, on the battery side) and give it a wiggle,

Mine has done this, it is a shagged bottom end. Hard lines.

this happened to me when i broke a piston. you wont know till you do a compresion test. but it doesn't sound good
