havent seen the x300 yet, but its part of the new range of radeon cards. its probably a budget card. do a search on google for it and check out it benchmark scores.
i have a radeon 9600pro, and the newer version, the 9600XT is a wicked. very very good and can be found for under £100
ATI do pretty good graphics cards, but sometimes they can conflict with games, and you will have to install patches to get around the problem. So I don't know much about ATI.
I was recommended a NVIDIA GeForce card when I had my pc. I've had no trouble or any conflicts with it and it's been brilliant. Performance wise I wouldn't say there is to much difference it's just down to personal choice. But get a 256MB DDR card if you are upgrading
ihave a ati radeon 9800xp its a very good card
i would say yours is the budget of the new range of ati cards not seen anything of them but am sure they aint to bad if you aint gonna be playing loads of games
ATI cards are more gamers cards
NVIDIA cards are more for general use or for programs that use openGL as ATI cards do not support openGL
Cheers guys. I'l keep it for now as it's not that bad performance wise. If it starts to struggle with the newer games then it'l be out on its ear.
never heard such bollocks in my life.Quote:

Either make are as good as each other for games.
The x300 is the new generation 9600XP/XT range cards, good for todays games but dont expect to be running in anything over medium settings, high will give a low FPS in todays newer games ie Farcry, Doom 3 etc.
sorry james i was talking about the older nvidea cards, aint really seen any of the newer ones yet.
but personally ATI cards are better IMO.
How old are you talking about? I've had nVidia cards for over 5 years, at which time ATI cards were TERRIBLE (the reason why I switched, they still can't make good drivers for love nor money).Quote:

ATI cards are still over priced compared to the STI alternative.
personal preference tho really.
i love my Radeon 9600 Pro.
it plays doom 3 brilliantly and also my strategy games
