Mk1 Keys
Hi all,
Is there any way of knowing which chip is the master. Im asking because i have a red key(which im currently using) and a snapped blue key. Apparently the chips have been swapped a few times. i have a new blue key but it hasnt been cut but i would like to start using it.
cheers

Just try and put the red masters transponder into the new blue
key.it should work fine.

It has a aftermarket alarm so don't need the remote button but yes I do have a new blue key, it just needs cutting, does it matter which "pill" is inside it as I don't know which is the master.

All keys can be cloned, blue or red.

if your car no longer has the fiat CODE immobiliser then i dont think you need the transponder pill. it may mean you can just leave your red master alone and use the blue one once cut.
i couldnt advise on how to tell if the pill you have is from a master-maybe they are all the same afterall its only to disarm to the immobiliser AFAIK i dont think the pill in the master would be any different from those in blue keys - perhaps the master has its extra circuitry inside it on the small circuit board. ive never taken a red key apart to look.
-
I was only asking as im sure someone said to me don't use the red key if possible but I agree with you pal, can't see a reason why the pill would be different, will just get my new key cut and try it with and without the pill and will let you know.

Even Timpsons can copy as many new keys as you like.
The Mark 2's are dealer only, but Timpsons have the equipment for the Mark 1s.
