Anyone else from South London?

Hi,

I'm Guy.

My last car was this (Mini Cooper 1.3):

Now I have this (Punto Sporting 1.2 16v):

I got rid of the Mini when the engine blew up on the motorway, I thought it was about time I got a more reliable car.. so I bought a Fiat!

The engine then blew up on the Punto the day I bought it so that kind of pissed me off a bit from the start, but it's been replaced, new gearbox etc so it drives nicely now.

I haven't done much to it yet, just simple things here and there.

Anyone else from South London (Beckenham / Catford area)? I think my brother uses this forum too sometimes.. "smgs".

Yep your brother used to be on here a few years ago, I bought various bits from him. He went to Portsmouth Uni the same time that I did as well.

You moved up this way then? Last time I remember you lived in Kent didn't you? Thats not the same Mini is it? I remember Simon bringing a red mini to a Bluewater meet once. I still have the pics of the convoy.

Thanks, yeah it's not bad condition, sideskirt cracked and the aerial snapped off in a carwash! :?

Ah yeah that was years ago! It was my mini at the meet, same one but I'd only just got it then so was pretty standard, I was there too actually.. just found the old photos on my photobucket account:

are you sure it's a good idea to have the VTEC lump and such small brakes? I'd run bigger wheels with decent brakes...

Good point. I'd upgrade the brakes anyway cos standard mini brakes are sh*t. Maybe 12" wheels and decent 8.4" brakes. Trouble is if you go for 13" wheels to cope with the power, the handling becomes awful, and cornering is a mini's party trick.
