Hello,
I have been pricing up Punto Sporting 1.2 16V Mark 2 cars. I am only 17 years old and the insurance is very high. I have tried Tescos and they say £2600 and I have tried Fizzel they say £2500. These are the cheapest quotes I have had so far are there any cheaper insurance companies?
How do these insurance firms sleep at night knowing what they are charging? My guess is they drink alot of Horlicks Hot Chocolate?

i bought my punto 55s 1.1 when i was 17 insured for £1800!! under my name, third party, don't think its good being under someone else's name, best to build up those NCB's!!! :)

Put them on there without knowing.
You dont have to show them your insurance certificate.
I was 17, no ncb, no other people under my insurance, was quoted £1450 with asda and then £900 with passplus! (3rd party btw)
If your going fully comp its going to be pretty mental. Try norwich union rapid bonus they give quite a large discount with pass plus, still around 2k with.
But try, admiral, or quinn direct. Might be best going tptt as the excess on fully comp can be near 500, and tptt around 200.
I got a quote from admiral, 3rd party for a GT for only £1500! With no ncb and my mum and dad as named drivers!
I'm 19 and my new insurance quote is £365.65 TPFT on my mk1 1.2l 16v Sporting, which I thought was impressive :D
Elephant add things on without asking, good thing (imo) is it's a 10 month policy, with excellerated no claims bonus. When I first insured the Sporting with them, I was 18 and it cost me £1500 TPFT :o.. after I got my years no claim I changed to Endsleigh (Liverpool based insurance company) which cost me £650 TPFT, now I have 2 years no claims (God knows how lol) and it's almost halved to £365.65, excess is only £135 and that's with Quinn Direct and If I remember correctly, they don't mind mods.
Do a quote online with www.quotethemarket.co.uk They can come up with some quite impressive quotes I've found :)

Im 20 (just) will of been driving the same 55-s for 2 years in a few weeks and have 2 years thanks to an exellerated 6month policy first time round and stayed with same brokers for 18moths 1800 total for a yeah and half, now with sainsburys whcih is surprisingly cheap now compared to yestur-year, 650 for 12months with 2year ncb which will be 3 in august and 21 in october so time for a capacity increase next chrimbo.
these guys will give you blinding quotes im full comp with them with all the mods declaird infact no one else wanted to know

like F8ck is it. Have you tried adding you mum to the policy as a named driver? try increasing your excess, get limited mileage, tell em its garaged, 2500 is just outrageousQuote:

OMG that's weird that you have had such huge quotes from Tescos. I had just turned 18 when i got my mk2 sporting, with no ncb and i was quoted around £1000 with breakdown recovery too. Do you live in a rough area??!!
Lol.. It does count alot tho tbh. Shropshire is one of the safest places in the country, so I went with a Liverpool based insurance company n so my insurance went down £850, because they're prob not used to un-rough areas lol :)Quote:

Im 19, 0NCB and a student. Im paying £1880 fully comp for my insurance on my 2001 mk2 Sporting with Direct Line and they were the lowest I could find, and thats including my colleague discount for workin at Sainsburys (dont ask)

I have tried Direct Line and they won't quote me they don't seem to like 17 year olds. I work at Morrisons part time as I am a student still and they offer 15% off car insurance but they only insure over 21s :(
I have got the insurance down to £1,950 with Quinn Direct but thats 3rd Party, Fire and Theft I really want comprensive.
Quinn Direct seem to be pretty good for me too :)
If you're wanting Fully Comp, thne really you shouldn't expect it cheap at all. Just go Third Party Fire n Theft, I've never gone Fully Comp because of the stupid cost.
You could try lowering it by putting one of your parents as a named driver? See if that works. Otherwise - you'll have to go on your Mum or Dads if you want Fully Comp cheaper, as that's the only way you'll get it without buying a different car. My parents wouldn't let me go on their insurance... in the long run its best though I suppose, I've built up my ncb's so it's worked out ok-ish.

Yeah my parents wont let me go on there insurance and if i'm getting a car I want it to be "all mine" if you know what i'm trying to say. If they was on the insurance they would be questioning me where I was going everytime I got in my lovely yellow punto.
But i'm getting a little carried a way at the moment because I haven't even passed my test yet but thats in the very near future so I need to get a good understanding about the pricing etc.
If you just add your mum as a named driver to YOUR policy it will reduce your premium. Dont know why but it worksQuote:
