A supercharged EP3 could be your answer :)
Deffo a decent road/track car that with the right mods will look after you and is pretty much bullet proof.
Well within your budget and low mileage :-

You know it makes a good choice :), they animals in every sense!
Higher miles (not a big deal on these engines) but better mods :)

If you have that kind of budget for a fun car you'd be mad to get something as run of the mill as an EP3, unless it had 600hp.
I think you should buy an already modded S14a and just keep a car for once, its obviously where your heart lies!! Buy one with 500hp or something etc!!
What Tom says is true, but you'll get on track twice a year if your lucky, maybe 3 times... If you get something that is truely fun on the road under the right circumstances you'll get a greater total enjoyment out of it than a barely used but still costly track car. Why pay for two cars when you can have a better all round one?
I will now obviously cite the Evo argument... Spend £6-8 on a nice Evo6, have a fun 300hp car and it won't be that bad on fuel till you start to go for 350 and 400hp etc. I use mine daily and it doesnt bankrupt me, infact I have more money now than when I earnt twice as much because ive gotten a little more sensible with age, I have access to her car, a work car and work van for work, chores and tasks so no need to use the Evo everywhere though I still do bumble about in it... I've done 58miles in the last 7 days, which is nipping about to Mates' and my folks etc etc, in the past I was doing 5 - 6x that weekly.
You'll get nothing else like one for the money. 400hp and it'll tramp most vehicles on the road up to very illegal speeds, including police motorcycles ;) But My MR can drive around normally, although a little loud, is comfy, nice inside unlike its predecessors and Imprezas but will fire off like a missile on demand, any gear any revs under normal driving and you'll be going like fook in mere seconds.
Evo VI on MLR, silver, £8k only 22k miles in 13years!!
They hold money quite well too compared to their contemporaries. Ones like mine still go up for sale for £12+.
On the downside, alot are owned and driven by idiots and therefore carry a bad stigma to most people. Attract unwanted attention and are very saught after by crooks. Costs can be high but depends on use, my insurance isnt that bad considering, Wilky pays less than most GT owners do in their early-mid 20s!
R32 GTR? or Maybe an R33, we know you love them.... (someones got to!)
DC5? E46 M3? S15?
Very useful post Dan :thumb:
I'm really trying to fight getting another 14a, only due to their age. Ideally I want something post 2000. If I buy a track car and a daily, the daily will be for her to carry kids about in, and to keep her off my back. Hmmm maybe an s15......
My only issue with the evo is that I wouldn't be able to leave it alone, that's where the cost would come in
Then you need to grow some sense!
I have been so tempted to splash cash on mine, always wanted some hench front brakes etc but you just have to resist!
Out of the box their amazing, in another bracket to anything folk will regard as similar or for similar money... Like other jap cars, a Monaro, or even Porshces etc... And the backhanded downside is the performance market for them is massive!
You just have to a comfy spot and stick to it. I only buy bits and bobs for mine because I want to, only things I've really spent out on are coilovers.
You do have a problem for been either frilant with cash you do have or just massively indecisive/easily swayed...
S14a or 15's aren't very practical and they may as well not even have those back seats...
Just get an Evo Todd, you know it makes sense. They don't cost rediculous amounts of money to run, as Dan says it's not bankrupting him and he's taken a big wage cut recently. My choice for £10k would be a Tommi Mak, should hold value better than the ordinary models and not as common. You have four doors and good boot space if you ever need them too. So what if you mod it? A few nice mods a year won't break the bank :dance:
[-( Nah, biggest load of nonsense I've heard. If you get an Evo you can enjoy it on the road AND the track plus with decent tyres it will whip any half-assed Coupe into shape on nearly any track. Unless you are entering competitively dedicated track cars are pretty pointless as you will only manage to do 3 or 4 a year if you work a lot and even that's going to cost you £400 for the days...Plus you're splitting your money again so you're going to end up with two cheap cars rather than one nice one.
You completely miss the point.
I have a 156 SW for work and general driving around in.
I have the Coupe as a cheap track day car.
Im not looking to "whip" anything on track. Once people realise how much more fun track days are than driving on the road you do get the bug.
And you can do as few or many track days as you wish, Im looking to do 6 this year.
"Dedicated track cars are pretty pointless" LOL. Im dissapointed you said that comment, thats just plain silly! ;-)
Kyle a VI TME would make sense..... Did you get my text today?
