Has the drive shaft been tightened enough
my garage sorted this today free of charge while i waited. mechanic reckoned he'd done the hub nut up tight but the thread had pulled through so they replaced the joint. does feel better now.
while i was there I saw an advert for TerraClean but i'll do a new thread on that.....
Good on the lads!
Did you get a new bearing fitted?
What's happened to the noise?
Not sure kas.didnt ask they used another joint they had lying around.be surprised if it was brand new......its just more solid now on the road.tighter.
Now the noise :)
Well ive only driven 4 mile home and it seems it could still be there somewhere.......a trip up the motorway will decide.
If it is then ill just keep searching......not giving up.
I reckon if its wasnt the cv or the tensioner then its the power steering pulley bearing.
When i turn the water pump pulley and belt to turn the ps pulley it makes a binding squeaky noise one way and is quiet the other way.i cant remember if the noise is when its turned in its usual direction of clockwise.....will check again next time.he belt is new so is the water pump.has to be the ps pump bearing........sh*t most of my car is new.ps pump is one of the few parts ive never changed and suspect its the factory pump.....
Alternator spins nice and free.
Water pump turns quietly but you can feel a bit of stiction in it.its not as free to spin as the alternator but i reckon this is normal......
Put the steth on the alternator and water pump today and they are fine when the engines revved.
Put it on the main body of the power steering pump which sounded ok then i put it on the part nearest to the pulley wheel and it sounds like a scouring noise. i doubt thats normal - anyway pulled a spare pump from my little shop, cleaning it up and will fit this ASAP.
