20vt Mess!
As some of you know, the fan belt snapped sunday morning, and at first I thought it had taken the cambelt with it...
Engine out today and at first glimps only looks like it jammed in the cambelt causing it to slipp a few teeth, "valves hitting the piston" But i did lose ALOT of oil, and the turbo chewed something up, blue smoke out the back....
Can see bits of fan belt jammed in the timing belt

Ooo dear.
20VT engines are ten a penny on Ebay if its proper goosed up!
-
Oh dear, feel for you mate, should have replaced them before fitting really.
-
ya there on the FCCUK forum for about 250 - 300, I have a load of bits here spare head, pistons, turbo etc
I did mate, i put a cambelt kit on, new aux belts but didnt think twice about the tensioner...
will learn for next time
-
I think thats what he means Matt, changing the tensioners when you do the belts, live and learn i suppose.
-
Not sure about anyone else, but I've never changed a belt without changing a tensioner that goes with it.
Hard lesson to learn.
-
Yep... will remember next time i come to replace all the belts

heads off, all 20v`s are bent, is bit of a mess.... little bit worried about the engine over all, as when the pistons are up you can grab them and theres abit of play.... new set of rings tighten them up:?

Rebuild the lot. It's not unknown for bad knocks to show their faces a few miles after a collission of valves and pistons.
-
Pop in a replacement unit mate and re-build the poorly one..Easy for me to say I know..
Hope you sort it soon.
