Mmmmm carbon fibre.
Okay, it's not really called the batmobile. But it should be. It's called the Lamborghini Reventon.
Full article at supercars.net10th September 2007 - Rumors surrounding a million dollar hypercar modeled after fighter planes turned out to be true when Lamborghini and the Volkswagen Group revealed the Reventon on Monday evening before the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The car was previewed even earlier over the Monterey weekend at a Santa Monica Airport where potential owners saw a 1/4 scale model and a quick video. $100 000 deposits rolled in and the Reventon was sold out before most knew it even existed.
To summarise for those of you uninterested in reading the full article, Lamborghini's coming out with a new stupidly-named car, the Reventon. They're building only 20 of them and they'll run you $1,370,000.
Essentially it's a Murcielago LP640, so there's still the LP640 V12 pushing 640hp to all four wheels, but Lamborghini have gone absolutely hog wild with the styling. They say that it's based on a fighter jet. It looks like the unholy love child of Batmobile and a Murcielago that's been hitting the gym every day for the last six years, featuring what looks like carbon-fibre wheels (maybe they're just CF segments, though), three TFT displays for the dash with a number of gauges the "pilot" can bring up at will, and a specially blended matte grey/black paint colour that looks, frankly, friggin awesome.
And that jet fighter dash:
I think perhaps this is the best supervillain car ever created.
Mmmmm carbon fibre.
