    To be a GT or not to be a GT

    For a long time now i have insisted that my next car WILL be a GT, but running problems with my sporting have annoyed me and i have been looking at other cars in the market. For example ;
    Clio Sport 172 phase 1
    Clio Mk 1 1.8 16v

    But after doing insurance quotes on these and others it turns out that i can insurance a GT for £600 in January i'd be 19 with 2 years ex and 2 years no claims which is about 350-500£ cheaper than the other cars i was looking at, so the question is now do i go for a GT then or something a little more reliable.

    Have i just been unlucky with my sporting, as i've spent 2k+ on repairs, or are FIATs really that poor.

    What sort of money would be required for a good GT around 2-2.5k?

    Please persaude me to stay with the unknown warrior that is the GT, otherwise i may join the dark side of the Clio sports, the cupra's, Fabia VRS, VTs

    Thanks

    it will be said over and over, if you get a well looked after gt you will be fine,but thees no guarentee.

    For me the gt is wicked, the buzz or when the turbo kicks in and leaving othes for dust.

    Its the appeal of the turbo, the fact nobody thinks it will be quick, the looks of the car, i love the way my car stands, especially at dusk in car park, no other car in that car park stands better.

    your best bet is to see if its possible to have a go in the cars that your going to be thinking about, then you can decide for yourself what you like about each of them instead of people on a punto forum telling you how everything that isnt a punto is crap.

    The other cars are good, but I personally prefer the GT. But it's my play car now. Daily driver is something different.

    If you are not handy with a spanner then stay away from the GT, they need a lot of care and attention although they can be extra reliable when they want to be.

    Its a good idea driving them all, will do that nearer the time. I just love the GT and punto in general, but they seem so unreliable.
    Perhaps i will have to save and get a really low mileage one.
