great little car ive had mine for almost 3 yrs now and since buying it ive only seen one other so a little rarer than the 16v but ive found they are slightly quicker than the later and with a little less revving engine .
Just check out the normal stuff as being an earlier car 95/96

Laid back motor that won't be screaming when you have a car full of mates.
Engine faultless, things to check are gearbox (the diff) and leaks under/behind the radio where the ecu sits (only on the 1.6 is it located here).
Massively quicker at higher speeds than the smaller model.
As close to a GT you will get without the insurance costs. Engine isn't draped in plastic and looks very similar to the gt*, so can be dressed in the same way if you like showing off a clean engine. *you can use a turbo boost pipe to relocate the air filter.
If you went off on the tuning route, it responds pretty well to induction kit and exhaust. 1600cc's gives a deeper throaty intake roar with an open filter.
You need to be a driver's driver as they didn't feature abs.

Yes 2v per cylinder. Well I don't know in what repect you mean fast? They're faster than a 1.2 base model but not as 'fast' as the 1.4 model that's unnaturally aspirated. They're a 12+ year old hatchback so even if I wasn't a mobike rider I wouldn't describe any 1.6 as fast. I wouldn't want to be in anything slower now I'm used to the power when going to fill the boot at tesco.

I see from your spec under your name you have a smaller sporting. TBH, not worth the hassle of swapping if there's nothing wrong with your current car.

unless like i said in my previous post you want to be different but you will need to have a keen eye to notice the external difference from the 2 .
When been at meets some thought mine was the early GT as shared the same bump strips and front end but the give away is the standard alloys it sits on ,anyway its down to choice so give it a test drive and see if you notice any difference
