R5 GT-T's weigh 855kgs, Punto GT's 1000kgs. Go figure.
i was pretty dissapointed when i realised that the punto gt wasnt a fast car on the strip . i had a r5 gtt b4 which used to run high 12's on a t25. if you go over to rtoc (renault turbo owners club) they have a 1/4 mile leader board and at least the top 20 are running 12's with a couple even running 11's now thats an old 1.4 pushrod carb engine
been looking for another one since mine got torched last year , but its getting hard to find a decent rot free one , the decent ones are owned by the rtoc guys who wont part with them . well not for my budget anyway

the r5 owners who do drag are serious tho, i raced one he ran 12.somit but when bang after the line he spend mega money and also had 100 shot of nos, and he wasnt arsed that it went pop as he just wants a quick time and not for the fun of the race
you could easy get a gt in the 12's if you were serious and didnt mind it only doing one run then goin pop, most gt owners tho are daily drivers aswell so they are tunned to be reliable aswell as quick which is never going to get the max power out of it
Mines a daily driver,
Standard engine, owned it for 5 years. No problems, broke 3rd gear but that didn't stop it!

hahaha - nice.
I don't like the look of the R5's - and most of them look pretty ropey now as they were more in line with the Uno Turbos in terms of age and technology. Even the concourse ones still are obviously very dated. I'd rather an Uno Turbo with similar power and weight.
Mind you the owners don't buy for the looks. No one would ever buy a Jap car if all they were concerned about is style. It's a bit like the Starlet Turbo argument - yes those are in the 12-13s band with the serious guys, but look like a dog turd imo.
