Decent oil at the correct level, my 900 did it, there just nooisey little engines...
Its been a while since i was here, but here goes anyway...
Me and the gf are off to OZ for a year very soon, I have already sold my car & she will need to sell hers soon.
She has an M-reg 900 cinq (in white bless), shes owned it for nearly 5 years now and its been really good to her.
Its done 89k so we arent expecting the earth for it, hopefully 3-400 taxed an tested...
One thing that very obvious though are the noisey tappets, very nosiey when cold, slightly better when shes warmed up.
Does anyone know of a quick solution or cheap way of reducing the noise? oil helps, its currently 15w/40 i was wondering if thick oil would help?
also this is on ebay.... in principle it sounds good what do u think? Engine Restoree
Ive heard saw dust would help, but seriously I am not gongi to be doing that lmao, reminds me of the film matilda!
any help would be great

Some idiot prior to me owning my car, bought some 20w50 to put in to reduce the noise but when I got it I wondered what the hell he was on about. There was no need for it, usually 10w40 or 15w40 does the trick, and is manufacturers recommendation for the fiats!
a thicker oil would temp drown out the sound, but like binno said, OEM recomendation or there abouts FTW
it wont help completely just drown out slighty -to clarify
ok thanks guys, i will give it a wirl, has anyone used that engine restore crap? link at first post ^^^^
