have you got an XP disc? you can usually copy the files over from there. presuming you have XP that is.
Well guy at the garage installed some dodgy discs on his computer which filled the compter with Viruses so i removed them but when doing so the userinit.exe file got deleted so now it won't log on. I tried going into the recovery console and copying the files from a USB drive to the HD but I really do not have a clue would anyone be able to tell me how to this or anyother suggestions so I can copy the file back?
Cheers

wasn't too sure on the commands i've found two bits of software to use, BartPE and EDR Commander so hopefully they will work. I'm assuming you can use any userinit.exe?
Have you tried using the repair tool from the XP installation?
as above, use the recovery console. i copied some files using it a while back but cant remember the commands, sorry!
a quick google search should sort it
whenever my pc doesnt boot up I always access the recovery console and perform a chkdsk on the drive which has the OS installed on it. Command: chkdsk /R hope that helps
