my mate has the old golf gti and he loves it but personally i dont like them.
i had the seat leon cupra my03 model and had a Revo stag1 remap and took it from 180 bhp to a rolling road printout of 205bhp.

Never had any problems major with it apart from a new starter lead to the battery, but the previous owner paid alot to hae it fixed as the oil had leaked in to the turbo some how and cost a fair whack but i owned my for just short of a year and loved the car to pieces.!!!

Cheaper than a golf gti new model and boy do they look and drive better.

Gonna be buying the cupra r version later on after my zafira gsi.

How much better is the leon cupra compared to the golf, when i had my golf that was all i wanted. i know its the same thing essentially but i'd forgive it for all its faults.. still want one now actually, may be my next car.

the golf and the leon cupra are two similar but also different cars.

Same engines etc, but i find the leon cupra more meaner, aggressive and sleeker looking than the box shape golf.

I miss every second since i got rid of my cupra and i would seriously invest in one again no quarell.

I think for what you pay for the both of them the seat is better value for money too as you get practically the same spec, but leons cheaper as they have a SEAT badge instead of VW.

I'd go for the SEAT!!!

i had a golf 20vt and loved it was remapped and had around 200bhp. it would do over 100mph in third. it had done 120k and was fine

but watch out for clutches as they have a dual mass flywheel which always need replacing when doing the clutch. i replaced mine with a solid mass flywheel from a g60 and a vr6 clutch.

electric windows mech are crap and stop working or full out

as already said coil packs fail

recaro seats dont wear well
