I thought xbox live, PS3 etc only used about 5kb a second anyway?
Hold the bus Stewart, Its not the speed of your connection I dont think, as ps3 gaming doesnt really use up that much bandwidth. What your problem is more likely to be, is a poor router that struggles to handle multiple connections at one given time (by this i dont mean 1 laptop, plus a pc and a ps3, but for example a bit torrent might d/l from 35 sources, hence 35 connections) Gaming servers may welll be similar, so you need to check with your router that port forwarding is set up correctly if either of the computers are downloading stuff, and things like the MTU (max transmission units IIRC) are at the highest your router and provider will allow.
Please dont be fooled into thinking that a faster connection will be the end of all your worries, because it may not, it may be the router........

It depends what the people with laptops are doing on the net. If they are downloading huge files the PS3 could be affected if he has a 2mb pipe for example.
