hello everyone.
well ive got another turbo but a diesel this time! lol.
ive bought an 1997 phase 1 306 1.9 td 60,000miles
now it is a mint car however, i dont think it is boosting correctly.
i dont really feel much of the turbo and apparantly your meant to feel it a fair bit kicking in. also the turbo noises arent very loud and again you are meant to be able to hear them a fair bit.
im going to buy an boost gauge for it at the weekend and see what it is boosting at.
you can hear it boosting ever so slightly, so if it was a turbo problem im sure it would either smoke due to the turbo seals gone and if it were the bearings im sure i would hear that scratching sound.
it idles fine and so im not sure if it is a vac problem?
im guessing ive got a leak or blockage somewhere, so looks like i got to spend some time taking all the relevant pipes off, clean them and check them.
the seal that the i/c sits on apparantly stretches lots and causes boost problems, luckily they are only £2.50.
any other ideas???

the interior is aweful, looking for a replacement already!
found some alloys for it, the ones that are on the top of the range dt.
its a 5door too!! lol. it actually suits me at the mo.

it was offered at a very good price and considering i want it as a practical car, a 5door actually makes more sense.
my interior is wank! you know me, ill get it looking nice, no stupid stickers, standard alloys, a nice interior and a good service, it will be ideal for me.
50mpg. and group 5 insurance,park it anywhere, enough said!

ive read on a 306 forum about an owner that had boost problems and he found a split in a pipe, but there was no mention of a whistle or sound of a boost leak which i cant work out. i am assuming that with any boost leak that you will hear it? unless it was a split pipe on the vac side of things??
