    Removing a HDD partition

Just got a spare 12gb laptop hard drive to use with a USB connecter for some portable storage. It had a 4gb partition on it. So I formatted that, and formatted the rest.
But how can I actually remove the partition so I can use it as the full 12gb?
    thanks

Plug it onto a PC running XP.

You should see if in Disk Management. Then frmat it the same way I told you before.

Yeah thats what I have done to format and remove the partition. Except the partition isn't removed, its still a separate 4gb doing nothing. Now its been removed, it doesn't show up in XP. But in disk managment its there as an empty space.

Done now anyway. Used the disk managment, but the 4gb was unallocated, so I deleted the 8gb that was showing as a drive, and made another partition with maximum space.
    cheers
