16v is 0.3 seconds quicker to 60, 1.6 is 7 seconds faster to 100..
Ok been said before but last time n cant be arsed searchin. What are the fores and againsts with the 1.6 and 16v sporting?
16v is 0.3 seconds quicker to 60, 1.6 is 7 seconds faster to 100..
so would the 1.6 be better for longer distance and motorway drivin seein as its a bigger engine? what about torque sp figures, standard and tuned?
you can only draw your own conclusions, the 1.2 sporting is quicker then its given credit for, 1.6 are gettin on abit now so finding one with decent milage and looked after is gona be a bugger...
True, so there aint a big noticeable differance between them?
only that the 1.6 is torque and the 1.2 you ahve to rev.Originally Posted by dom

Dan mine has only just ticked over 60k ... alot of mk2 have more than that
Basically the 1.2 engine needs alot more revs to get any pull but has a more pronounced power band due to engine characteristics(i.e you can really feel the power kick in at 4k or so).
The 1.6 has more torque to it and has a lower down power band. Basically this means that it is probably nicer to drive as it has power without revving it. It will also pull alot better in gear than the sporting!
I prefered the 1.2 Sporting when I drove both, thats why I bought one.
Also, the 1.2 Sportings are newer and have better interiors.
Look in the 16v section, theres all of the info you need on where the power bands are. Once the 1.2 is warmed up it makes a significant difference.
Punto Gt no more!
How long did you drive the 1.6 for?
