how much can a standard turbo handle ??

i'am about to buy a boost controllers as i think boost is runnin standard or less but what i was wondering was just how much boost can i run (safely) on a standard turbo and on a standard engine apart from a blitz induction kit and full centre exit magnex exhaust system,i want a decent amount of safe to run all the time boost figure basically please fellow gt heads

I think a peak of 18psi isa bout the norm.

big help thanx bud soon as i get my controller i can wizz up the boost and enjoy now,am only bothered bout 16psi so should be ok.cheers again
