TT Supra’s and Skyline GTR’s are listed as 276hp but both make over 300hp standard
Spot on - i'm aware of a UK spec R34 GTR that produced 353bhp at Power Engineering with only the cats removed. Most UK spec evo 7s & 8s were producing over 300 with no mods.
Evos also have very complex active diffs and transmissions to ensure all the power is channelled to the correct wheel at all times for maximum performance.

Doesnt this make the FQ300, 320, mean nothing then ?:S

Id be pretty sure the factory ones are almost bang on 280hp.

Means people believe the marketing men and Mitsi have a range of cars. Even on Mitsi's own web page for example the MR 320 has only 4 lbft of torque less than an MR 340, so why pay the extra 3K or so?

I wouldnt follow torque figures too much as 300lbs at 6000rpm is a lot less power than 300lbs at 7000rpm, the short of it a bigger turbo = more power.

Im sure they couldnt be so stupid as to sell a standard evo at 320hp, the bring out a 300hp claimed one, a 320hp claimed one.

Journalists would instantly have found this out.

They did - Autocar particularly - makes you wonder why the 300 became the 320 and the 330 the 340 so quickly.
The standard cars weren't making as much as 320bhp.

The 280hp is what they should be, and as theyre turbos things can go slightly amiss with boost control. Press cars are usually fettled to make a bit more power take the top gear puntoGT from 97 with the Garrett turbo :P 0-60 in 7.6!

Powerstation in 2001 said the wrx scoobies as standard always made 280hp-281 straight from the factory as a guide for the accuracy of their rollers when we did an RR day there.

That'll be why the evo always beats the scooby then

Does the wrx not have 260bhp (hence the evo 260), its the sti that has 280.

Parked up in a car park last night when Mr evo comes along, anyway he was after another race but I didnt want to show myself up infront of a lady!

Went for it anyway, so theres me, this evo, a red 2ltr nova, a white 2 ltr nova, an astra GTE, and a cav GSI all flying down the motorway at stupid speeds, I was half way through overtaking the astra when I see a white van in my mirror flashing so I thought **** police. Anyway I pulled back in and this MK1 A reg escort van flys past and keeps up with the evo!!! Turns out its a 30 yr old whos put in an RS cosworth engine and it ****ing flys!
Anyway I would of found out the full spec but as my battery ****ed we ended up in a park car park all night.
