Ok ive been thinking about this for a while and after watching top gear i want to do it. (even though a little worried)
Would anyone be interested in a little group of us going.
it would be over a long weekend i.e. Fri-Mon, also i think its only open to the public 11 times in a year.

I was thinking the exact same thing after watching Top Gear!
When they pay the 14 euros fee. Is that for one lap? or all day?
Even if it is a lap I can see you doing more than 5 in the Punto.
5 laps at 13 miles is **** loads of ragging it.
Some things to help out here.
Insurance for the Ring won't be cheap, or rather it wasn't the last time someone I know went. Think about it, you're taking your car, without a race licence with the sole purpose of racing around a track you've not done before.
It won't be 13 miles, you'll probably get to use the 9 mile circuit, but having said that 9 miles isn't to be sniffed at anyway!
It's about £6 a lap. You're better off doing an easytrack jobby for £100 for the day or the like. If you want to try it out first, somewhere nearer, do Spa. It's cheaper altogether, although you can't say "i've been around the nurburgring"!
What happens if it breaks down whilst you're out there?
I've pondered doing the same thing, but in a Punto GT? Nope.
luckily HIC insurance will probably allow me to do it as long as it is approved by certain groups, cant mind who though.
Plus I have European break down so the only thing that stops me is well emm **** all 8)
You can get special track day insurance anyways can you not?
I just had a good read of this site and in law the ring is a Public Road. Therefore insurance wise all you need is European cover. Dont need track day cover (i think)
lol, have an accident and see if you're covered by your insurance company.Originally Posted by Dale

but when it comes down to what is legal and what isnt
the ring is a public road by law
If your insurance covered you for public roads and it has it in black and white then your in the right.
But yes, you would be better to tell them before hand
