    Golf gti t 20vt

I've taken a liking to the above.

    I've had a golf 1999 1.6 before, but I hated it.

What's everyone's opinion on them, has anyone been in one?

Pros and cons between the 150 & 180 models?

Boring and gutless, same as all of the 150-180 VAG 20VT's IMO. Suppose it depends what you're used to, but if you'd like a bit of a thrill then I wouldn't bother.
A good all round car but not an exciting car to drive.

Tell him to learn to drive it properly then. I have a gt tdi running 350 lbft, still on the original DMF with over 150k on it, no issues with the DMF at all, more issues with the standard sachs clutch not coping.

I'm assuming it's the same story with the s3?
