The noise you hear is the oscillation of the release bearing and/or noise from the metal surround , if you're holding the clutch at or past the 'bite point'. It's not that much to worry about unless it's a metal on metal screeching noise. Regular usage can often 'clean up' the irregularties and/or the oscillation noise can be lived with until it either fails or you get the screeching.
Don't 'ride the clutch' and releasing the clutch pedal, when in neutral, at lights or in staionary traffic, will keep wear to a minimum.

cheers mate, when i put my clutch in it wines and then the sound dissapears until i push the clutch again + only does it once warm aswel
my punto 1.1 done it for about 3 years /30 000 miles and still going.
my punto sportings was quiet, i drove about 100 metres down the road one morning and the release bearing collapsed
so it could last any time lol
how long is a peice of string then lol iv bought a new clutch kit of w8man anyway so aslong as it lasts until that comes im happy
