I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to turbos and stuff. I've had turbo cars but not good technical minded.
I think I might be wrong in saying but I think he might be a 1.8 type S
2006 so it's the FN2 shape (newer) Civic?
In that case it could be a 1.4 with 98bhp (94lb/ft) or 1.8 with 138bhp (128lb/ft). Both are 245kgs heavier than a GT and the GT will have more torque so you should be fine.

2006 could be an 8th gen or a pre-registered 7th gen
If it's a 1.6 VTEC it's a pre-reg 7th. like this...
If it's an 8th gen it'll look like this...
8th gen won't be a 1.6. It would be a 1.8. The 1.4 were either diesel or petrol but weren't used until the slight facelift in 2009/10.
The 1.8 is 0-62 in 8.6 with 138bhp as standard so a GT should beat that without worry.
The 2.2 CDTI is 8.3 with 138bhp.
It's a 7th gen for sure. And it's a type S
when you picking the car up andy?
Waiting for a reply off the guy mate to go view it
For this Civic, you should take off the turbocharger, and than race him. That way it will be fair.
Doubt I'll be having the gt now as guy has turned round and said he maybe keeping it. Tw@t
So on look out for another one to fit my budget
