    Does anybody know whether these can be used alongside the standard boost controller? OR is a Dawes / EBC essential?

    Sure, SEB0/SEB1/SEB2 chip first, then other mod.s and boost to suit. I ran CHeWie that way initially with a SEB2 and had no trouble, on Mr Hans's advice. Better idling too.
