    pc displaying on tv

right oh, heres one for the tech heads or it might just be so simple im going to be left feeling a bit stupid. i have a hp desktop from about 4-5 years ago maybe a little more but basically the start of the vista era anyway i have a hd flat screen and i want to run the pc through it but i dont have a vga input on the tv is there away round this? preferably with audio as if it were hdmi to hdmi. would a hdmi to vga cable be suitable?

im guessing if it is a HD TV you will have composite video inputs on it, you would ned to get a composite to vga cable adaptor. These inputs do not have sound attached like hdmi, the TV would probably have a mini jack input for the sound, so you would need to run an additional cable from the PC audio out port to the input on the TV also.

i agree with the first one ben, but if the tv doesnt have vga, why would he want to use a hdmi to vga/rca, i dont think that is even possible, it would be vga OR rca never both at the same time.

i was guessing that a hd tv without a vga / hdmi input would most likely have this input on the back, the older style of hd.

My TV has VGA so I just got a BASIC VGA to VGA lead, then select VGA from the source menu on the TV.

Option 1 will only be any good if you have an after market graphics card with a DVi output. Most onboard graphics only offer a VGA output.

If you have a non built in graphics card then option 1 will be fine.

Do you plug your monitor where the top circle is or the bottom?
