WD40 is good on engine bay plastics, it leaves a nice fresh finish behind and will disperse any water present.

Matt a guide on cleaning under the bonnet would be very handy, just potentially bought a new car but the engine bay is filthy for a 6 year old car.

Sean I'm sure there was one posted up from Matt.

To clean the plastics, i'd use WD40 after wiping down with a wet cloth and for the block etc to get rid of oil brake cleaner.

I did mine where my mate works and forgot to take pictures of under the car, again!

Or better still, get it steam cleaned not sure what prices are like near you, but I was quoted £40 and they have a ramp to lift the car up.

Got any pictures of some really dirty ones that you've done.
They're the best ones to see

    Totally agree!!

Also needs to be an older car where you can see the engine rather than the huge plastic cover.

It's alright sticking in those sorts of requests, but what you have to remember is, the majority of cars I treat are less than 10 years old. I did an '04 plate Civic Type-R friday/saturday, and that was the oldest car I have done in the past 3 months!! Leading up to that, for the past few months all cars have been less than 3 years old!
