Didn't help no.
Hey all,
Not needed to post much in here lately, but just since I was asked about Iron-X a few weeks back, and its safety around rust etc. I thought I'd share my experiences with it and just do a little write-up on some of it's uses and how to use it effectively (and safely!).
The purpose of this product, is to remove iron decontamination from paintwork by way of chemical reaction with the iron particles. It can also be used to good effect to remove embedded brake dust in alloy wheels...
Here's a couple of examples.
Use your normal wheel cleaner first to remove the general grime and dirt from your wheels:
Rinse that off which will leave you with clean wheels, but you'll still be able to see the brake dust gathering around base of the spokes..
This is when you hit the SOB with Iron-X. You apply it to wet wheels, it sprays on clear and when it reacts with the iron, it turns purple like this:
Close up...
I then agitate the residue after around 5mins of it reacting - and then I make sure I give the area treated a really thorough rinse!
Which leaves you with this end result
This is how it reacts on bodywork. Those little orange dots you see, are embedded pieces of iron burrowing into your paint they pop out when you spray the Iron-X on them. Same rules apply, spray on when the bodywork is wet. In this instance, when the reaction takes place, I gently remove with a damp microfibre cloth.
Hope this helps. Any questions, fire away, I will try my best to answer.
Matt.
Thats cool mate, shame there isnt a cleaning product to undo all that kerbing!
It would do if you could be ar$ed cleaning your car properly
Yeah, those wheels need refurbing. I look after an X3 with 19" M Sport wheels on, and every time I go back to it there's another chunk missing out of them such a shame - yet the bodywork is immaculate
Can you test it on bubbly rust to dhow what happens?
Obviously not on a customers car though
I would need a car with some bubbly rust on to try it chaps
Tbh, it's very worthwhile product to have in your kit bag, especially at a more advanced level. Works great on light coloured cars which show the iron contamination the most. I wouldn't recommend using it on anything like bubbly areas etc. If in doubt, leave it out!
