'Er indoors has a scruffy old 02 reg, ELX 5 door. Recently got a Power Steering warning and has lost the servo assist. The car is still driveable, so long as your name is Arnold Schwarzennegger....
Called my local main dealer and they were talking anywhere between £400-600 depending on the fault. Ouch!
Does anybody know anything about this, what I can do.. look for myself, etc? , or recommend and specialists in the Liverpool/Manchester area who won't 'take the p***?.
Thanks,
Col
P.S. My GP with 17" wheels and low profile Bridgestones... definitely not recommended for the recent ice-fest. I'm a nervous wreck.. ...
Thanks to Beau.
Can anyone help with:
1. I'm thinking of removing just the motor and seeing if it will run with a straight feed from the battery. If not, that is likely the problem and I just need a new motor. (Existing is the 6670)
2. Replace the whole unit. Does anyone know if this is covered in a Haynes (or similar) manual? Wouldn't want an Airbag going off in my face etc.

OK Chaps. Job Done. got a unit from BBA Reman and fitted it without much trouble.
I have a few re: this process which I'll try to post when I'm less busy.
