depends who you know and your area....
Hi all
I randomly stummbled arcross a gt3 for sale at the bottom of my mums street, its got a few problems which im willing to put right but its got a few rust patches which is bothering me. the cills need welding work, also around the filler neck on the inside of the rear quater, is this a ballbag of a job to sort?? anyone had similar repairs?? prices?? cheers for any help
depends who you know and your area....
buy a mig and do it yourself. the filler neck one goes on the bracket and you will hav to fabricate a new one. it's in such a tight space thou that your practically welding blind.
have a go yourself, if the cars cheap enough then itll be ok as a learning curve for you. if you get it done and your not happy then get someone to do it properly.
never know, if you explain to them you had a go yourself and it was first time etc or whatever, they will mroe than likely offer you some advice (although you might have to ask for it, tricks of the trade are priceless! )
my mate who works at a garage is going to have a look at the car with me tommorow, he will have a better idea than me of the amount of work that needs doing. i hope its not too rotton, i could have myself a massive bargain here
Dont you have to cut it out then replace with new plates etc?
Mine has the same problem in regards to the chassis rust
I've been quoted silly amounts to get it welded up.....some more than I bought the car for!!
What was the quote if i can ask? and what bits are rusty?
got quoted £300 for cutting the old rust out and £600 for shaping new plate and welding
Found out my girlfriends uncle can weld.....so going to get a quote from him
and is the floorpan....inside of the sills
