Nurburgring Circuit, Germany road trip?

I've just come back from a 3000 mile Euro road trip with the first stop being at the Nurburgring race track, and thought it would be amazing if any of you lot were up for joining a weekend convoy sometime later this year to all drive to the race track, spend a night at the hotel there, and back to blighty the next day?

For anyone that isn't familiar with the Nurburgring, it's a 20km circuit that is open to the public to take their own vehicle around the track at about 25euro a lap. No special requirements for the vehicle or the driver. Real petrolheads paradise with all the other cars there too from all over Europe.

It's about 400 miles there from London, so equivalent really of driving to Glasgow distance wise. Perfectly do-able in 2 days there and back. Nice smooth motorways too for all of you like me that have to take the long route to places locally to avoid potholes and speedbumps! Added bonus is the unbelievable privilege of the German Autobahns which are still widely unrestricted and have NO SPEED LIMIT!

I had to do the trip in the company BMW but definitely want to take the Punto across the water for the same trip...

Interested if anyone would be up for it?

I would of loved to have done something like this...Corsa isnt up to it though. Having said that, Dan did take the super grape around it!

Not this year as saving for the wedding, but I'm def gonna do it next year :nod:

How much autobahn did you actually use on there way there though? We hardly used any!!

Best let the AA know so they can tell their German counterparts you'll be on your way over and to have enough flat beds ready :lol:

It's about 80 miles worth of Autobahn coming into Germany through Aachen, and probably half of it is unrestricted, with the other half limited to 130kmh...

I went the other month in the 350z, loved it. Cruising at 145mph legally, Lol. Track was amazing too, I did 6 laps in total.

sounds good , when my punto is done in 2012 i would love to take it round the ring :) im sure we could get enough people up for going in a convoy , defo for that AA recovery lol

Once you go it will become a yearly thing! I almost went back five weeks later but I didn't have enough cash.

I head out there every year with mates. This year we returned via spa for a trackday :-)
Love it out there although TF is ****, I'll never do it again. It's busier than the M25 and has the same amount if dickheads on it lol
It's all about DN days.

So is anyone up for this in May this year? I'm going to go again regardless, but would be nice to have a few other UK Punto's in convoy! :-)

I am going around him on the outside :D!

I drive with the punto GT now 8 rounds and als passenger a 50 rounds.
Its a very nice circuit.

Rule breaker, you must overtake on the left, unless this was a track day?

It's Germany so he is technically breaking the law as its overtaking on the inside / 'left'

However I think it's better to overtake whichever way when safe. Most people that overtook me didn't give a fook.

I always kept to the right and overtook on the left, It's not against the law on a track day but it is on a tourist day.

I only went on tourist days cus my mates are tosspots.

Maybe one day :(

What's your plan? How long you going for? That's exactly the kind of date I was thinking of :dance:

I might be up for it depending on dates. I'll be in the 350z though.

It's the 3rd may to the 7th and ferry crossing is in morning at half 7 and 12.30 on way back

I will do a post on it next week
I went same time last year
And on the Sunday there is a proper fia race on nordsleife track

When I went I booked the crossings for overnight. Park the car, grab some food, a few beers and go to bed. Wake up in the morning and your there.

I usually use the Tunnel... 30 minutes onboard which is just enough time to fit the GB sticker and flick the headlights over to left hookers... :dance:
