Hi all, we have a 1.2 8v punto 2003 new shape and we are having a headache with the lights. If you drive the car with either the lights on or off, when you stop and turn the engine off and remove the key the sidelights come on and stay on. At first I thought I was leaving the indicator on but it wasnt that, I have tried sitting and waiting to see if it was a setting where the lights stayed for a set time before switching themselves off but nothing. All of the light functions work and do what that should but just stay on...... Any ideas anyone?

It might be an iffy ignition lock. The parking (side) lights may be intended to come on when the key is removed from the PARK position. Try fiddling with the lock and removing the key in both the PARK and STOP positions, check the side lights, and then reinsert the key to try the other position. Otherwise, there might be a wiring fault or the lock is too worn for correct operation.

As above - I think that could well be the problem.

dose the 03 style punto have the same kind of ignition to the mk1 punto where it has a little button to press when u turn the key to switch on the side lights???
if so it might just be a case of him pressing the button when removing the key when there is no need to
i know i did this when i got my first punto
