Fiat cam belts are known to snap early. I would say every 40k, that's what I'm doing

Every 40 is ok. I've not had the power steering, or the alternator belt changed for over 2 years. Still going strong.
I had the Cam belt last changed at 42k, and again when I reach 80k.

Is it worth getting any other pulleys or cogs etc changed at the same time as cam belt?

Not really, but I can't say. It depends how worn the pulleys are. You may however wish to change the powersteering belt and alternator belt at the same time yes.

apparently, when fiat say cam belt chage, thats all they do.
with a normal service they wanted 450 quid
i phoned around and someone put me in touch with a italian specialist, who lives around the corner from me, i had everything done for 300, they also changed the pulleys and stuff that the cam belt sits on.
if anyone from north wales area/north west england want his details, let me know. my car is running better than ever 8)

Why did you change the pulleys too? were they worn?
I didn't realise there was a stated mileage as to when they should be replaced if not.

I'd replace the tensioner coz if you look at some other Fiat forums they can break!!
Fiat want a fortune and i did my own for £12 for the belt and £30 for the tensioner.
Don't belive it when the Haynes manual and Fiat say special tools are needed.
If you wanna know how to do it yourself ask me.

Definately worth doing the belt and the tensioner at the same time. My mechanic is in Clapham, proper italian geeza, and he said that the tensioner is worth doing simply because you will only have to change it again soon.

So we're looking at:
cam belt
tensioner belt
alternator belt
All in one hit. Will bear that in mind for next year... more to add to my list of things to do to the motor next year. Its only done 36k at the mo so it is probably a bit early at the mo.

power steering? could be done at the same time too. Only £3.75 or so from Halfords for the belt.
