Well im going to get my 6.5" comps and ive got a 12" boston sub, nice kick
if i added 2 sets of 6.5" Comps i would still get the same amount of kick, and would it still be as loud and clear, the bass i mean or would it drown it out a little?
:?
Love my bass but needthe volcals as they get drowned out, the sub should still be as loud though

suggestion, dont do another set of comps until you try your existing ones with
a)more power
b)active set up.
thats how i upped the ante with my comps and they now keep up with around a killowatt of bass perfectly fine :D
if your STILL not happy, then try adding another pair of mids first, and again not happy add the second set of tweeter if you REALLY must, but i can almost guarantee you will find the 4 tweeters up front painful :?

active = individual components are amped without passive crossovers using active x-overs instead.
so "normal" components are as follows:
amp---->passive x-over----->mid/tweeter
actives are as follows:
active x-over-------->amp------->mid
active x-over-------->amp------->tweeter
reasons are as follows:
a) x-over BEFORE amplification means that you are amplifying the signal that you want to reproduce and not changing it after its been amplified.
b) passive x-overs sap a LOT of power from the amplifier while they seperate frequencies.
c)general result of amping actively gives more midbass and cleaner highs.

cheers m8!! i fink i get it now. nice 1.
i have a cambridge surround sound system in my bedroom (5.1) the tweeters which plug into the sub are really good quality. would i cuase any damage if i was to stick two of these tweeters into my rockford 201s amp. this would save me a lot of money and would be amazing sound!! but i dont wana try it b4 u (the pro's) give me the go ahead.
cheers!

DONT PLUG THEM DIRECTLY INTO THE AMP!! :shock:
you NEED to crossover the signal going into the amp so that only the high frequencies are amplified and therefore only the fequencies that the tweeter can handle will reach it- other wise you'll be putting a full range sound through the tweeter and blow it in five seconds flat! :shock:
besides- house tweeters arent normally designed for car application- resistance is normally 8 ohms on home audio anyway, whereas (generally) car audio works best around 4 ohms or less.
also chances are your rocky amp would put out way more power than your tweeters can handle.

cant damage amp but tweeters will last around 5-10 seconds before both blow.
will last a minute at absolute MAX
no point mate- unless you have a x-over you WILL blow them. period.

ill find myself a crossover from somewhere. cheers for the help!
if i stuk these into the same (2 channel) amp as my rockford 12" 150 rms sub. will the sub and speakers just go a bit quieter as its sharing the power or can this hurt my poor amp??
