Speedo Not Working

A mate of mine is having problems with his 55s, he had the gearbox changed and since then his speedo hasnt worked. He was told by the guy that fitted the gearbox that the gearbox was fropm a different model and the part that fits onto the gearbox to register speed didnt fit and that he would need a new one.

Well my mate has since spoken to fiat and they have said either the ecu is ****ed or the speedo, is this true? as the car is also not registering miles it has done

what is it with fiat and ****ed ECU's what a joke.

why no try and locate the speedo sensor cable and see where it should be/is.

Blue or back connector on the rear of the box, ive fitted many & 4got to put the connector in perfectly. does the same thing. The device bolts into the box and spedo connector clips to it, ive pleanty if you need 1.

the thing was mate the gearbox thats in it must have been from another model as the connector didnt work. Any ideas?

Wonder if the gearbox came from a Cinq Sporting coz that's a proper cable drive whereas the Punto is electronic isn't it??

its DEFO the sender unit which is located in the gearbox
had same prob when i had my 55sx

fiat part around 80 quid

check fuses, as on my old corsa the fuse went and the speedo stopped working

the latest I have now heard is that the gearbox is from a MK2 punto and thats why the speedo aint going to work, I have been told that

that is plausable what you will need to do is go to a scappy and get another transducer from a 55 and see if it will fit on

still not got my speedo fixed took it to 3 garages and they dnt kno wot the hell is up with it am not having much luck with it, so if anyone on here cld mayb kno what the problem is or if any1 cld tell me the setup on where to locate gearbox and speedo reader on a 55s and the route that the cable has to take to make sure that the cable is in correctly. thanx

there is an advantage to the speedo not working, milage stays the same. if you have a rev counter, its possible to know how fast your going from the revs in a certain gear!

i know that mate but honestly i aint interested in keepin the mileage down just want my speedo workin as could end up gettin jailed for it.

the speedo transducer is on the back of the diff and the cable runs up the way and plugs in under the black cover at the bulkhead with the 2 screws on it

its kool i got it workin today went to the scrappy and got a speedo cable and drive and fitted that and its workin fine the drive had snapped in half which was why the cable wasnt workin. cheers
